Units, unit price and your value

When you invest in a PAMM strategy, you don’t hold dollars in it. You hold units, which are slices of the pool. What those units are worth changes every time the strategy makes or loses money.

So there are two numbers, and only one of them is money:

  • Current investment value is what your investment is worth, in the strategy’s currency. This is the one to watch.
  • Units held is how many slices you own. It is a count, not an amount.

The value is simply:

units held × unit price now = current value

An example

Say you invest 1,000.00 USD, and at the rollover that processes it the unit price is 1.2500 (on Sep 23, 2026). You receive 800 units.

A few weeks later the strategy has had a bad run and the unit price is 0.9000. Your investment is now worth 720.00 USD, and you still hold the same 800 units. Each unit is simply worth less.

If the strategy recovers and the unit price climbs back to 1.3000, your 800 units are worth 1,040.00 USD. (This example leaves fees out.)

When your units change

  • You invest: you get more units.
  • You withdraw: you hand units back.
  • A fee is charged: fees are taken at a rollover, and your units go down by the amount of the fee.

Trading results don’t change your units. They change the unit price, and so the value.

A unit count can look a lot like a dollar amount, especially when the unit price is close to 1. If you see a number near what you deposited but your value is lower, you’re almost certainly looking at units.

The two unit prices

Your investment page shows the unit price twice:

  • Unit price now moves live with the strategy’s open trades. It is what your current value is worked out from.
  • Unit price at last rollover is the official price recorded at the most recent rollover, and it shows the date of that rollover.

When you withdraw, you’re paid at the unit price of the rollover that processes your withdrawal, not the price on screen when you asked. More on that in Rollovers and pending requests and Withdrawing and leaving.
