PAMM
A PAMM fund pools money from several investors into a single trading account. The manager trades that one account, and each investor holds a share of it. Nothing is copied into your own trading account: there is one set of positions, and every investor’s balance moves with the value of the pool.
Two consequences explain most of what you see on screen.
Money moves at a rollover, not the moment you press the button. Joins, top-ups and withdrawals are queued and applied together at the fund’s next processing gate, at the fund value recorded then. Each fund sets its own schedule.
An investment account is a record, not a login. Investing gives you a numbered PAMM investment account. It holds your balance, your requests and your statements. There is no password and no way to place a trade on it.
The pieces
| Master account | The trading account the manager works in. This is the pool. |
| Investment account | One numbered record per investor, per fund. |
| Rollover | The scheduled moment when queued requests are applied. |
Everything to do with PAMM lives under Invest in the portal, split across three tabs: Discover for browsing, My investments for money you have put in, My strategies for funds you run.
Investing in a fund
Finding one
Discover shows the strategy leaderboard. Filter it to PAMM to drop MAM and Copy strategies out of the list, then sort by 7d return, total return, newest, most followers or largest. Cards and list are the same data in two layouts.
Each card carries the total return, the 7d return, the follower count and the fee. A fund you are already in is marked Invested and shows your value, with View in place of Invest.
Reading the strategy page
Open a fund and the panel you want first is Before you invest. It states the performance fee, the minimum investment, and the rollover schedule, for example daily at 00:00 UTC with a 15 minute freeze.
About this strategy holds whatever the manager wrote, plus the product (pooled allocation), the base currency, and the first and last trade dates.
Performance and track record is the verified account record, switchable between returns and monthly returns over 1M, 3M, 6M, 1Y or all. Booked return covers trading results and fees when charged. Open trade gains and losses are not in it, and deposits and withdrawals are never counted as returns.
Balance, equity, open trades and history may each read Private. That is the manager’s privacy setting, not a fault. A fund with no trading behind it yet says so instead of drawing an empty chart.
Placing the investment
Invest opens a two step dialog.
Step one asks which investment account receives the money:
- an existing numbered account, which adds to its balance and keeps its statement history intact, or
- Create another investment account, which gets its own number, balance and statements.
Then the amount, and the wallet it comes from. The dialog itemises the wallet debit, what the fund receives, and any conversion. Investing from a wallet in the fund’s own currency needs no conversion.
The lower panels are about timing, and they repeat the same three dates: the next rollover, the cut off for cancelling, and the note that your starting value is set at the rollover rather than now.
Step two is a review of all of it: strategy, fund currency, live status, receiving account, amount, funding, and processing. The final button reads Add to this investment or Create account and invest, depending on what you picked.
The starting value is recorded at the rollover. The fund can move between your request and that moment, so the number you end up with is not fixed when you submit.
After you submit
The confirmation gives you the request, the status Pending rollover, the PAMM investor account number, and the amount reserved.
The money does not leave your wallet yet. It is reserved there until the rollover runs. Until then the request sits under My investments on the Pending tab, which shows the amount, when you submitted it, the processing schedule, the cancellation cut off, and where the funds are held.
Your investment account
Each investment has its own page under My investments, with tabs for details, the fund’s open trades, the fund’s trade history, and fees.
Before the first rollover the page is honest about being incomplete: current
value reads as updating, the value since joining is awaiting settlement, the
status is PendingJoin, and your share is 0%.
Fees awaiting settlement can read Not reported. That is not the same as zero. Actual charges appear on the Fees tab; future rollover fees are not estimated in advance.
The account number stays with you. History and statements remain attached to it after you withdraw, and the account stays open if you go to zero, so adding funds later does not start a new record.
Adding more, or leaving
Invest again on an account that is currently empty, or Invest on the strategy followed by picking that same numbered account, both add to the existing record.
Leave fund requests a full withdrawal at the next rollover and then closes the membership. The account number, the statements and the history stay available afterwards.
Running a fund
Creating the strategy
+ Create strategy on the Invest page opens a four step wizard: type, account, terms, review.
The type step offers three models. Fund · PAMM is the pooled one, where investors join a single fund and deposits and withdrawals are processed at scheduled times. The other two, MAM and Copy, leave the money in each investor’s own account.
The account step is where PAMM differs from the rest. XBTFX creates a dedicated master account for the fund. You choose the platform, Mega1 or MetaTrader 5, and the currency the strategy runs in. All fund trading happens in that account, and investor balances follow their share of it.
Terms is where the performance fee is set. The review step repeats it back to you along with the name, type, account and currency before you commit. Login details for a newly created master account arrive by email, and investors can join as soon as the strategy exists.
Do not deposit into the master account
It is the pool. Money is supposed to enter it through investments only, so that units and shares stay consistent. If you want your own money in the fund, use Invest in your fund and go through the same investor flow everyone else does.
The overview
Open a strategy from My strategies and the header carries managed assets, master equity, active investors and the master account number.
The Overview tab holds four things worth knowing where to find:
- Strategy performance, the same verified record investors see.
- Strategy snapshot: managed assets, active investors, pending requests, fees awaiting settlement, and the next processing gate.
- Master account: balance, equity, floating P&L and free margin. These are the trading account’s own figures and do not include investor assets. Links go through to the account and to WebTrader.
- Investor-facing terms: whether the strategy is listed, and whether an invite code is required. Edit settings takes you to the Settings tab, where both are changed.
Requests and the rollover
The Requests tab lists deposits, withdrawals and joins waiting for the next gate, with the amount, a masked investor number, the submission date and when it executes.
Run rollover processes everything queued straight away, at the current fund value, rather than waiting for the scheduled gate. It asks for confirmation first. Once it runs, those requests are applied at that snapshot, so the investors in the queue get the value at the moment you press it rather than the value at the scheduled time.
Fees
The Fees tab totals fees per currency, and splits them two ways:
- Charged is the fee calculated for an investor.
- Collected means it has actually left the investor account.
Your own wallet is paid separately from either figure. The table below lists each fee event with its date, the investor, the amount and an explanation of what happened, including performance fees charged at the gate by burning units at the snapshot value. Early exit penalties show up as manager earnings rather than as charges.
Investors
The Investors tab lists everyone currently in the fund, with the count shown on the tab itself.
Profile, links and privacy
Publishing is separate from listing, and the distinction catches people out:
- Publish, on the Profile and privacy tab, creates the public link at
portal.xbtfx.com/s/. Until you publish, the strategy reads Not published and there is no public page. - Listing on the Strategies leaderboard is controlled in Settings.
Edit profile and privacy opens three panels.
Profile is the square strategy image, a one line headline, an About section, and an optional manager location. Image changes save immediately, unlike the rest of the form. The location field is display text only and is never filled in from your verification documents.
Links sets the public page address and the social handles. Handles for social accounts, full links for Myfxbook or your own website, and only secure links get published. A checkbox controls whether search engines may list the page.
Changing the public page address breaks every link you have already shared.
Privacy governs open trades, history, balance, equity, assets under management and investor count. Each is public, limited to signed in users, or private, and the choice applies to both the public link and the portal strategy page. Two behaviours are worth reading twice: amounts and trade sizes only appear when balance and equity are both visible, and for a PAMM fund a public assets under management figure reveals the value of the pool. Growth is shown independently of any of it.
Partners
The Partners tab lets you share part of your fee income with someone who brings you investors. You invite them by email, set a percentage on each of the performance, volume and subscription fees, and send it.
The percentages are slices of your fee on that basis, not additional charges to the investor. They apply to investments made from that point on, so existing investors are unaffected. The invitation has to be accepted before anything takes effect, and the portal will not tell you whether the address you typed belongs to an XBTFX account.
When something looks wrong
- A request is still pending. It stays that way until the rollover. Check the next gate time on the strategy, and the cancellation cut off if you want out first.
- Your value reads as updating, or your share is 0%. Normal before your first rollover settles.
- Fees show Unavailable or Not reported. Nothing has been reported yet. It does not mean the figure is zero.
- Nobody can find your fund. Publishing creates the public link. Listing on the leaderboard is a separate switch in Settings.
- Money you sent to the master account is not showing as an investment. Direct deposits are not investments. Contact support before trading on it.
Anything else, use the chat widget with the strategy name and the investment account number.
