IB Program

As an Introducing Broker you earn a fixed rebate on every million dollars of notional volume your referred clients trade. The rate depends on what they traded and on your tier. Volume is the whole basis, so a client who trades often earns you the same rebate whether they finish the month up or down.

Rebates recur for the lifetime of the client. As long as they keep trading, you keep earning on that volume.

Everything below lives under Earn in the portal, on the IB Dashboard tab. The panel at the top carries your tier, your status and your partner code, which looks like IB-000009 and has a copy button beside it.

The rate card

Rates are quoted per $1,000,000 traded and cover eight asset classes.

Asset classBronzeGrowthPro
Forex$5.50/M$9.00/M$13.00/M
Metals$5.50/M$9.00/M$13.00/M
Indices$5.50/M$9.00/M$13.00/M
Commodities$5.50/M$9.00/M$13.00/M
Crypto$80.00/M$150.00/M$230.00/M
US stocks$100.00/M$200.00/M$300.00/M
Asia stocks$100.00/M$200.00/M$300.00/M
EU stocks$80.00/M$130.00/M$180.00/M

Your commission rates on the Summary tab shows the same list filtered to the tier you are actually on. That table is the one to trust, because it is your account rather than the published schedule.

The spread between asset classes is wide, and it matters more than the tier does. A Bronze IB whose clients trade US stocks earns more per million than a Pro IB whose clients trade forex. What your clients trade drives your income before anything else.

Working it out

Take the volume in millions and multiply by the rate for that asset class.

A Growth tier IB with clients trading $150M a month in forex earns 150 × $9.00, so $1,350 a month on forex alone, recurring for as long as those clients keep trading. Volume in other asset classes is calculated separately at its own rate and added on.

Tiers

Everyone starts at Bronze. Moving up lifts your rate on every asset class at once, not just the one that got you there.

TierMinimum active tradersMinimum monthly volume
Bronze0$0
Growth10$100,000,000
Pro30$500,000,000

Both conditions apply. Growth needs ten active traders and $100M of volume, so thirty quiet clients will not get you there and three very large ones will not either.

An active trader is a referred client who traded during the period. Monthly volume is their combined notional.

The Commission tier panel on the Summary tab is where you watch this happen. It names your next tier, states the activity window being measured, and shows two progress bars: active traders against the threshold, and volume against it. Read the window off that panel rather than assuming one, because it is the figure your own account is being measured on.

If your numbers fall below your tier’s thresholds there is a 60 day grace period before the tier actually changes. A slow month does not cost you your rate.

The Links tab holds two, both carrying the same tracking parameter:

  • Marketing points at the XBTFX website, for content and ads.
  • Sign-up points straight at the portal registration page, for people already sold.

Anyone who registers through either is attributed to you, across both MetaTrader 5 and Mega1. The partner code in the dashboard header works the same way for anyone who would rather type a code than follow a link.

Reading the dashboard

Summary

Five tiles across the top:

Lifetime paidEverything ever settled to you
Pending payoutCalculated and waiting to be paid
AccumulatingBuilding up and not yet due
This monthThe current month so far
ReferralsHow many clients you have brought in

The Accumulating tile carries a small progress bar marked with the deposit threshold, currently $5.00. A balance under it is waiting rather than lost.

Earnings

The same money over a time range: 7D, 30D, 90D or ALL. Paid in range, Pending deposit and Accumulating, then the settlements themselves underneath. An empty range says so rather than showing zeros without explanation.

Reports

Two views with a CSV export beside them. Acquisitions is sign-ups through your links. Clients is who they became.

Sign-ups and earnings are not the same number and will not move together. A referral appears in Acquisitions as soon as they register, and contributes nothing until they fund an account and trade.

Cashback for your clients

The Cashback offer tab lets you give part of your own rebate back to the traders you referred, as a way of attracting them in the first place.

You set a per million rate for each asset class individually. Beside each one the dashboard shows your ceiling, which is your own tier rate for that class. You cannot give away more than you earn, and you do not have to offer anything on a class you would rather keep whole.

Two choices apply to the offer as a whole:

  • Duration: 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, or permanent.
  • Payment: with your own settlements, daily, or weekly.

Publish offer makes it live. It comes out of your rebate rather than being added on top, so it is a real cost to you. Whether it pays for itself depends on whether it wins or keeps clients you would otherwise not have.

Your clients see what they receive on the Cashback tab of their own Earn page.

Sub-IBs

You can recruit other IBs beneath you and earn from the network they build, rather than only from clients you referred yourself.

Getting paid

Rebates accumulate as your clients trade, move to pending once calculated, and settle from there. The dashboard is the authoritative record of what has accrued and what has been paid. If it disagrees with what you expected, raise it there rather than reconciling against the published rate card, which is the standard schedule rather than your individual terms.

Applying

Applying is free. You apply to one program, either this one or Affiliate, and switching between them is possible once you have been approved.

The two programs pay for different things. IB pays on volume traded, for as long as the client trades. Affiliate pays once per qualified client, sized by their first deposit. Ask your partner manager what switching would do to clients you have already referred.

Questions about your tier, your rebates or a specific client should go to your partner manager, or through the chat widget with your partner code.
